A poem of the night sky
As I look up at the night sky
A million shards of diamond pierce the blight
And it’s the dark that makes them shine
Sometimes it’s the beauty of the stars that consume my thoughts
Other times, it’s the ebon blanket behind
What is it about the night sky
That brings both wonder and fear?
Wonder at the formations and unknown distance
Those lights have traveled
To display themselves as a timeless masterpiece before our eyes
Fear at the loneliness they can represent
Or the long night that lies ahead
As I look up at the night sky
A million shards of diamond pierce the blight
And it’s the dark that makes them shine
