I watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with my family a couple of weeks ago and found myself inspired. The movie is an extremely entertaining and creative encouragement to live life and not just dream life.
This idea hits home for me because I often find myself in the “woulda coulda shoulda” type of thinking. This line of thinking only creates regret, and there is too much life to live for that. Therefore, I have been working on more doing and less shoulding.
What is it that you feel inclined to do today? Instead of thinking it would be nice to get out into the woods, I’m going to get out in the woods. Instead of thinking I should reach out to this person more, I’m going reach out to that person.
Regret drains energy and takes our mind space. If we step out and experience life, our mind becomes free from the clutter of regretful thinking, and we will find ourselves open up to the world around us.
I will be heading out into the woods for a little while today, what will you do?
